helping SMEs to implement EMAS
The European Commission launched EMAS Easy to help small-and medium-sized enterprises to work with environmental management systems. Environmental consultants in some selected EU countries will evaluate and develop methods to help SMEs to meet the requirements of an EMAS registration. During the project, the environmental consultant will work practically with SME business while they receive training in the concept of EMAS Easy.
The Swedish Environmental Management Council administers the project in Sweden. EMAS is based on ISO 14001, which means that this tool is also a help in the ISO 14001 work. EMAS Easy offers a clear, simple and non-bureaucratic method for environmental consultants to help SMEs to implement EMAS. The EU Commission wants to give high priority to this work through a targeted education effort around EMAS Easy.
