Today, public procurement in Sweden amounts to approx. 50 billion Euros each year. When adding the value of procurement within the private sector, the sum rises to around three times that amount. If relevant and far-reaching environmental requirements were imposed on all these procurements, much negative environmental impact would be avoided. SEMCo develops criteria for Green Public Procurement, GPP, along with other forms of information regarding sustainable procurement to help purchasers to include and extend the use of effective enviromental criteria in their procurement processes. The set of criteria documents covers common product categories and are updated continuously in order to adapt to the technical development on the market. Mot criteria documents are translated into English in order to facilitate GPP in other countries and to help suppliers in their B2B communication with sub-suppliers/manufacturers abroad.
