Social responsibility
During the last few years, social questions have grown more important in the debate concerning public procurement and its potential to contribute to sustainable growth. Social questions span from national work against discrimination to decent conditions for workers in low-wage countries.
The Swedish Environmental Management Council (SEMCo) has added social criteria to its criteria documents since 2006.
In March 2011 SEMCo launched the CSR Compass, a web based tool on social responsibility aimed at public procurers and private sector purchasers. This is currently only available in Swedish and Danish.
