Chemicals policy
SEMCo's chemicals policy is a guideline document for developing purchasing criteria. The document sets targets regarding which properties that should not occur or that should be limited in the chemical products and goods procured. The targets should be achieved using a checklist, which is the tool to enforce the policy.
By using the checklist, chemical substances used for the specific product group are addressed. It is documented whether it is possible to develop criteria to phase out or limit the hazardous substances.
Level 1 - substances that should not be present in products
- CMR-substances category 1 & 2
- PBT, vPvB - substances

- Ozone-depleting substances
- Particularly hazardous metals (cadmium, mercury, lead and their compounds)
Level 2 - Topics to be limited as much as possible in articles
- CMR-substances category 3
- Potential PBT, vPvB - substances
- Substances of very high acute toxicity
- Allergenic substances
- Subjects with high chronic toxicity
- Environmentally hazardous substances, substances with long-term effects in the environment
