Procurement for limited impact on climate
The climate change is one of the greatest environmental threats. Reports of the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) show that the humanity is very likely to be responsible. The reports also show that climate change can have severe consequences for the Earth's future supply of food and water, the demographics, extreme weather events and the natural ecosystems.
The Swedish Environmental Management Councils work with the climate issue includes contributing to climate-efficient solutions for the procurement of goods and services.
MSR has developed an information package for energy efficient products and services (including for example, IT products, lighting and vehicles).
In addition, requirements on how to minimize climate impact are included in several of the procurement criteria.
Climate declarations
MSR is also working on climate declarations, an extract from verified environmental declarations (EPD) that indicates a product's total climate impact from a life cycle perspective.
Climate Information Guide
MSR has produced a guide aiming to help procurement officers and others to interpret the different kinds of climate information for products and services available on the market.
Online course
MSR also offers training, available on the Internet, for purchasers interested in how to make climate-efficient procurement.
