Eco-efficient economy

Environmental adaptation of public procurement is a good way to reduce environmental and climate impact from the purchased goods and services. It is also an effective way of reducing public costs and stimulating technical development. Green public procurement can thus boost the economy also through increased competitiveness since environment-friendly products and production methods can be exported.

A European Eco-Efficient Economy

A European Eco-Efficient Economy is a recently published report by researchers from SEI and Lund University in Sweden. The report has been prepared as a background report for the 2009 Swedish Presidency of the EU. The focus of the environmental issues during the Presidency is how we come to grips with climate threat while we create a strong economy. The goal is an eco-efficient economy. SEI's report provides a background to the conditions in Europe to create an eco-efficient economy. (Stockholm Environment Institute, 2009)
