GPP criteria in Sweden are not mandatory - but Swedish legislation states that you should consider GPP in Swedish procurement. "Green" procurement is growing in number (even though the number might differ in different product categories); the Swedish statistics on how procurement is evolving can be read in this report.
The criteria cover meats, milk, poultry, egg, fruit, vegetables, flour, bread, rice, sugar, coffee, tea, cocoa and fish products. We also cover meal services and transportation services. We don't plan to extend the criteria for food products in the near future - but will keep the criteria up to date.
There are nutritional recommendations to be met for children, adults and the elderly. And they are often referred to in procurements and very often used in daily food preparation.
SEMCo's GPP criteria also cover the hospital sector, i.e. Anaesthetic and intensive care, dialysis, examination gloves, medical-technical equipment, general criteria, and pharmaceuticals. SEMCO is also a partner in developing EU-criteria for medical devices.
